Camp Freaks is a student Independent Project demo built to unify campsite booking, gear rental, weather-aware trip planning, and wilderness survival guidance for campers in Malaysia.

Campsite data: Listings use real, recognizable Malaysian camping regions with fictional pricing, availability, and hosts layered on top for demo purposes. This is not a real booking service.

Payments: Checkout is simulated by default (no real charge occurs) using a mock provider shaped after Stripe's API. If Stripe test-mode keys are configured by the developer, real Stripe test-mode checkout is used instead — the checkout page always labels which mode is active.

AI plant/fungus identification: The identification tool in the Survival Guide uses a general-purpose, pretrained image classification model. It is not trained specifically on plants or fungi and can be wrong. Never eat, touch, or otherwise act on anything based on this tool's output — consult the written Foraging Guide and a real expert.

Offline use: Unlike the original mobile-app concept, this website does not provide true offline GPS or map caching. Guide content is designed to be read and printed ahead of a trip instead.

Camping News: Articles are fictional demo content written to illustrate the feature — they are not real news, are not sourced from any actual publication, and do not represent real product announcements or events, even where they reference real gear brands.

Shop: The shop lists products under real, well-known outdoor gear brand names (Snow Peak, The North Face, Coleman, MSR, Osprey, Black Diamond, Nemo) for realism in this demo. Camp Freaks is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a licensed retailer of any of these brands. As with bookings, checkout is simulated by default and uses the same Stripe-shaped/test-mode payment flow described above.
